Tower House is a magnificent grade 2 listed Victorian property comprising of a large attached building (over 2,500 sq.m), prefabricated classroom block (260 sq.m), a brick outbuilding (75 sq.m) attached to 3 garages, and a wooden garage set in a ground of one acre. It is located close to a seaside town of Westgate on Sea, Isle of Thanet in Kent, with good public transport accesses. The nearest bus stop is two minutes and the railway station five minutes walk away. It is on the main road between Birchington and Margate.
The development project is for converting the main building into 12 flats, the brick outbuilding into a detached cottage and a large part of the class room block into a garage large enough for 12 to 16 cars with the central boiler house. The 3 garages will be storage for bicycles and general & recyclable wastes. The entrance to the site will have a security gate controlled by a GSM based intercom along with security cameras remotely accessible by the residents. The area in front of the main building will be blocked paved parking for 21 cars, offering an allocated secure on site parking space for each home. At the rear of the building, there will be approximately 1,500 sq.m of gated and landscaped communal garden for the residents.
All of the key periodic features of the building will remain. A lift to all floors will be installed, which is essential for the residents. It aims to be the very best and most prestigious conversion of large historic buildings within the Isle of Thanet. The homes will have all the security, modern facilities and spacious living environment expected from a high end development within a handsome Victorian building.
